Erika Boissiere, Founder & MFT - The Relationship Therapy Group

Erika Boissiere is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT #84047) who specializes in couples counseling and is based out of San Francisco, California. She is also an adjunct instructor at University of San Francisco, teaching Master Level courses to students that are learning to be Marriage and Family Therapists. She is also a contributing author to Forbes, writing on business and relationships. Finally, Erika is a frequent guest on Good Morning America, speaking out on relationships and mental health issues.

After working for nearly a decade in the financial services sector for firms such as BlackRock and other buy-side/ sell-side firms, Erika followed her passion to help others lead more fulfilling lives, and changed careers to become a Couples and Relationship Therapist.

Her background in the corporate world brings a practicality and tool-based approach to her therapy with couples. She is married to Philip Boissiere, a Marriage and Family Therapist himself.  Two therapists in one house sure does make it interesting for their young daughter and son!

Erika received her Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of San Francisco, where she received her training in Cognitive Behavioral Psychology. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a double major in Economics and Political Science.

Erika ascribes to the approaches developed by top couples researchers, including the works of John Gottman, Susan Johnson, and Terrance Real. She attends several trainings a year to be current with the latest approaches and research, and believes strongly in the efficacy of psychotherapy treatment.

Erika works in conjunction with the FBI and the San Francisco Unified School District to teach parents and students on how to enjoy and use the internet safely. She recently spoke at the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA), an international psychological conference attended by therapists and psychologists from around the world on the topic of how technology (namely smartphones) impacts relationships.

Erika serves as Vice President of the Board of Haight Ashbury Psychological Services - one of the few non-profits in San Francisco providing psychotherapy services to individuals and couples who couldn't otherwise afford the benefit.
